Delaware County Council is scheduled to travel to Ridley Township for its next evening meeting, 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Garling Hall in the Ridley Township municipal building, 100 East MacDade Blvd. in Folsom.

County Councilman David J. White announced Council will meet in Ridley Township as part of ongoing efforts to enhance communication with residents by taking their meetings out into the community.

“Council is excited to hold a public meeting in Ridley Township, home of Boeing, one of Delaware County's largest employers,” he said. “It is our hope that these evening meetings will encourage our residents to become more involved with local government and in turn, help us to communicate more directly with our residents.”

Council will present a resolution recognizing the Kedron Youth Association Cheerleading Team for receiving first place in four age categories at the COA Pure Championships held April 5-8 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

County Council will conduct its regular business meeting, plus invite input from local residents during the public comment portion of the meeting. There will be no daytime meeting of County Council on May 2 at the Government Center in Media.

The Ridley Township meeting marks the eighth evening Council meeting held in various communities since Council launched this outreach effort with a meeting in Collingdale in February 2009.

Since then, Council has held evening meetings in the City of Chester, Haverford, Concord, Brookhaven, Clifton Heights, Chadds Ford and now Ridley Township.
