Florence Williams, 87, avid traveler

Services will be held July 17 for Florence Williams, also known as “Snow.”

Williams died July 11, 2012. She was 87.

She was born Sept. 19, 1924, in Philadelphia to Steven and Lena Kinney. She was the youngest of five children.

She was educated in the School District of Philadelphia.

She joined the Metropolitan Baptist Church under the late Rev. N.J. Holsey where she served for many years in the Jolly Assistance Club. She later joined the Good Samaritan Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Walter L. Hackett, where she was president of the Willing Workers, a trustee, and served as the Pastor’s Aide.

She was married to the late Warren Kells, and the late Eddie Williams, who was the lead singer of the Metropolitan Male Chorus.

Williams was known as a fashionable dresser.

Her family said she lived a blessed life and traveled throughout the United States and the Caribbean.

Williams was preceded in death by her sisters and her son.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Smith (Henry), Florence E. Mason and step-daughter Sheila Barnes; grandchildren, Sharae Green (Edwin), John Seibert Wilson, Yahne Rice (Nathaniel), and other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at the Good Samaritan Baptist Church, 6148 Lansdowne Ave. Viewing is at 9 a.m. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial is in Rolling Green Memorial Park.

James L. Morse Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
