Wedding Story: Dalisa Nicole Thomas and Kevin Ja’Corey Wilson

Dalisa Nicole Thomas and Kevin Ja’Corey Wilson exchanged nuptials at a beautiful Spring ceremony on May 5. The couple was married by Pastor Warren C. McKnight Sr. of the Love Kingdom Fellowship Church in South Philadelphia.

Dalisa was gorgeous in a gown designed by Paloma Blanca from the Mikaella collection. The full length English netted mermaid gown featured a sweetheart neckline. Her gown was accented by a beaded belt adorned with Swarovski crystals. Dalisa wore a 5-foot long diamond white cathedral veil. Her 5-1/2 inch stiletto pumps, covered with Swarovski crystals, added a dramatic touch as did her bouquet of white calla lilies adorned with a Swarovski crystal bouquet wrap.

How They Met…The Proposal

Dalisa and Kevin met on the scenic campus of Hampton University in Hampton, Va. Although they did not date while in college, they were friends and had a class or two together. After Kevin graduated in 2003, they did not reconnect until 2008 at one of Dalisa’s sorority functions and began dating.

After dating for two and a half years, they decided to have professional photos taken at a local studio in January 2011. Dalisa had no idea that Kevin and the photographer had a surprise for her. “In the middle of the photo shoot, Kevin presented me with a beautiful ring and asked me to be his wife. As tears of joy rolled down my face, the photographer never stopped taking photos. So in essence, he was able to ‘capture the moment" that started our lives together. We took those proposal shots and made a slideshow out of them to play for our family and friends.”

Reflections

“Our wedding day was unforgettable and a day that will be cherished. Things didn't go perfectly, but they happened according to God's will and at the end of the day we became husband and wife! We were able to express our love for God and for each other in front of our friends and family,” said the bride.

The wedding party stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill, N.J. the night before the big day. On the morning of the wedding, the bridesmaids and bride excitedly dressed together in a suite as the groomsmen and groom dressed on a different floor. Pictures were taken with smiling relatives. The couple was also able to take a great photo of the bride’s fellow members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc and groom’s fellow members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.

“The highlight of our wedding day was definitely our spotlight first dance. We danced to 'So Amazing' on the first floor as our guests watched us from the second level balcony. It was a time that we were able to reflect upon our love, our day and our future without any distractions. We were so blessed to have all of our friends and family together, many who came from hundreds of miles away,” Dalisa shared.

“Kevin was involved 110 percent from the moment that I said ‘Yes.’ He was not your typical lax groom. He took an active interest in our wedding plans by attending all appointments, helping to make decisions from the large details to the smallest. Kevin's philosophy was that we were in this together; it was our wedding not just mine. If it was going to be our marriage, it had to be our wedding as well,” Dalisa added.

The Honeymoon

The happy couple honeymooned in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic where they thoroughly enjoyed the awesome scenery, sand and surf and being together as husband and wife.

May you enjoy a bright future Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Ja’Corey Wilson. Congratulations and very best wishes are extended to you!
