Jacqueline Hutty-Moore, 69, mother and officer

Jacqueline Hutty-Moore was a correctional officer for the Pennsylvania state judicial system.

She died Sept. 19. She was 69.

Born Sept. 11, 1942, Hutty-Moore was the daughter of the late Douglas Paul Hutty and Patricia Kirk-Hutty. She was the eldest of three children.

Her childhood and adulthood were spent in and around the environs of her birthplace of Philadelphia. As a young woman, she met and married Carl Moore and bore two children.

She worked as a correctional officer for 33 years until she retired in 2000.

In 2007, Hutty-Moore was diagnosed with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer. She battled this disease with grace and courage, accepting this challenge as part of her spiritual path for this life.

For her entire life and even while she fighting cancer, Hutty-Moore was an accomplished amateur chef. She was humble about this talent, but all of her friends and family members raved about the inventiveness of her cooking. She also loved reading, watching movies and spending time with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was taking day trips to Atlantic City — and not just for the excitement of the casino, but to people-watch and to enjoy the beauty of the ocean.

Hutty-Moore believed in reincarnation and she was looking forward to the experiences she would have in her next life, especially since she believed her new incarnation would be devoted to helping others.

Hutty-Moore’s loved ones will most remember her gentleness, for it seemed that she had a very special place in her heart for each family member.

She is survived by: brother, Milton; sister, Geraldine Stephens; children, Rochelle Priscilla Moore and Eric Scott Moore; grandchildren, Tiana, Sherita, Tiffany, Khalif, Tyrik, DaQuan, Dynera, Tierra and Kharee; niece, Errica; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held Sept. 24 at 2 p.m., at 7308 Mountain Ave., Elkins Park, Pa.
