Center in the Park plans festive season

Center in the Park will be hosting a tree-trimming event on Dec. 3 at 9:30 a.m. to help the community ring in the holidays. Carols will be sung and refreshments will be provided.

The main focus of this event is to get others into the holiday spirit and to sing together, helping to make a smooth transition into the season. This annual event has been held for 20 years and the organization has made it a priority to help end the year on a festive note.

"[The organization] has a singalong group," said Brannon Johnson, the program director of Center in the Park. "Anyone can come and sing their heart out. No skill or training is necessary to attend, as this is not a choir."

While Christmas carols are being sung, participants take turns decorating the tree.

"It really is a nice way to get into the holiday spirit," Johnson said.

Center in the Park has other ways for members to get into the Christmas spirit, by holding various events throughout December. On Dec. 7 at 1 p.m., a piano and tap concert will be held, so members of the organization can show what they've been learning from the classes held throughout the week.

On Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Holiday Bazaar will be held for anyone who has not finished holiday shopping, and who would like to do so locally.

Last, on Dec. 12 at 1 p.m., the organization will host the Songsters Unlimited Holiday Concert, directed by. Jerome Lang. The program will feature Christmas songs, and refreshments will be provided.
