Philadelphia Tribune earns national honors

The Philadelphia Tribune won 10 awards at The National Newspaper Publishers Association Annual Merit Awards ceremony Thursday night at the NNPA 2012 Annual Convention in Atlanta.

The Tribune came away with first place awards for best editorial and best business section; second place awards for best youth section, best layout and design, best use of photographs and best community service, and third place awards for general excellence, best editorial cartoon, best religion section and best entertainment section.

Tribune Managing Editor Irv Randolph thanked the staff for “another excellent job for winning 10 national awards.”

The St. Louis American Newspaper was awarded the highly coveted John B. Russwurm Trophy as the “Nation’s Best Black Newspaper.”

The NNPA includes more than 200 African American-owned newspapers.
