Tommy Lee Head, age 70 of Marietta, Ga., passed away on April 19, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Head was retired, formally the Director of the Youth Detention Center in Neshaminy. His life was dedicated to the betterment of disadvantaged youth and in his retirement . he was due to graduate as an advocate for CASA (caseforchildren.org)
He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church located in Philadelphia and was active with Union Chapel United Methodist Church once he relocated to Marietta.
He is a graduate of Shaw and Temple University and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
He is survived by his two sons, Derrick Head of Bowie, Md. and Dexter Head of Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Derrick Jr., Daiquan, Eve, Caleb, Daishawn and Santino; two brothers, William Head of Marietta, Steve Head of Acworth, Ga.; a niece, Ingrid Head, and two nephews, Matthew Head and Cedric Head, of Marietta, Ga., along with a host of relatives and friends.
A Viewing was held at the Hanley-Shelton funeral home and Union Chapel United Methodist Church followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor John C. Woods on Thursday, April 26. Arrangements were handled by Hanley-Shelton Funeral Directors.
