Gloria Dickerson Robertson was employed in the mailing industry.
Robertson died Sept. 14, 2012. She was 78.
She was born Nov. 9, 1934, in Philadelphia. She was educated in the Philadelphia public school system and graduated from West Philadelphia High School in 1952.
After graduating from high school, she was employed by Sears Roebuck & Co.on Roosevelt Boulevard for several years and later worked as an employee of the mailing industry for 25 years with Advanced Direct Marketing.
She married Van Robertson in 1955 and from that union two children were born.
As a young child, she joined Vine Memorial Baptist Church. She later joined Sharon Baptist Church, where she and Van attended until her health declined.
Robertson enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
“She was just a fun person who loved her family, that’s the type of person she was,” said her daughter, Deidre Robertson.
She was known for her delicious cooking. You could often find her sitting around the kitchen table telling funny stories to her friends and family. She had a special way of making those around her laugh. She also loved to travel, attend plays, listen to music, especially jazz and shop for her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Robertson is survived by her children, Deidre and Kevin; grandchildren, Erik, Kelly, Donte’, Kevin (Brandon), LaShonda, Christopher and Christian; great-grandchildren, Khaliyah, Kylee, Jaren and Kylee; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held September 20 at Wood Funeral Home, 5537-39 Girard Avenue. Viewing will be at 10 a.m. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd.
