Ron Stokes has been around football for a long time. Stokes was a terrific player for Germantown High where he played on the Bears 1972 Public League championship team.
Stokes played in the City All-Star Game. He played his college football at Central State in Wilberforce, Ohio. He played for Hall of Fame coach Billy Joe and played with former NFL standouts Erik Williams from Bartram High and defensive end Hugh Douglas and defensive back Vince Buck.
Stokes has two sons, Je’Ron and Malik Stokes, who starred at Northeast High and now play Division I football at Bowling Green.
He played a big part in helping his sons developed their skills to where they’re playing major college football. Stokes is now helping other high school football players achieve their dreams of playing college football as CEO/founder of Top Prospect Sports Recruiting and Consulting Services in Philadelphia.
“You know as we were going through the (recruiting) process with our own sons, Je’Ron and Malik,” Stokes said. “We met a lot of parents. We met a lot of kids. We were embarking on a new football culture. We saw where a lot of kids didn’t have a lot of information. They were falling through the cracks. These kids were academically qualified, but couldn’t take advantage of these opportunities because of a lack of knowledge. We wanted to share this information. We shared this information with as many people as we could. We felt like we could make an impact in this business. We wanted to make information available to all these parents. That’s why we started Top Prospect Sports.”
Top Prospects Sports Recruiting and Consulting Services offers various programs to help players receive exposure as well as skill development.
“We had an indoor combine training camp,” Stokes said. “It was very successful. We will be running that in the winter months. That is a part of our player development program. I’ve had a lot of kids come to me about playing Division I football and going to the NFL. We know that when we do our evaluation process that every kid is not a Division I player. We understand that these kids have dreams. It’s not in our heart to tell them that they can’t accomplish those dreams.
“These kids will go to the workouts and have the elite advanced training that they need to athletically put you in position to succeed. That’s a part of our player development program.
“We help the kids not only marketing wise, but we make sure they have the training necessary,” Stokes said. “We have our other camps that we run with our player development. We have some speed and agility training in the outdoors. We also have a college tour. Our college tour is another program where we take the kids out of the city. We take them to the colleges. So, I think it’s a great opportunity for other kids to go out and see the facilities and meet the coaches. We’ve had some phenomenal testimonies from the kids. We’ve spoken to the parents, too.
“We have our prospect camp marketing campaign where we put together packages for players,” he added. “We get their bio and their prospect profile together professionally. We put their highlight tape together.”
In June, Top Prospect Sports will have another college tour. For more information on the program, go to www.topprospectsports.net.
