What: CARES is providing free eye exams for eligible service dogs throughout the tri-state area, as part of the 5th Annual ACVO/Merial National Service Dog Eye Exam event
When: Registration for eligible service dogs runs from April 1, 2012 through April 30, 2012
Where: Service dog owners/handlers must first register online at www.ACVOeyeexam.org. Exams will take place at CARES in Langhorne, PA throughout the month of May 2012.
Why: Guide dogs, handicapped assistance dogs, detection dogs and search and rescue dogs selflessly serve the public. The 5th Annual ACVO/Merial National Service Dog Eye Exam event will help serve these dogs who dedicate their lives to serving us. CARES, along with more than 200 board certified veterinary ophthalmologists in the U.S. and Canada will provide free sight-saving eye exams to thousands of service dogs.
Qualifications: Dogs must be active “working dogs” that were certified by a formal training program or organization or currently enrolled in a formal training program to qualify. Owners/agents for the dog(s) must first register the animal via an online registration form beginning April 1 at www.ACVOeyeexam.org. Once registered, the owner/agent can contact CARES at 215-750-2774 to schedule an appointment for May. Appointments are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
